Yang Jae-min had a big game on offense against Akita.
The Sendai 89ERS won 87-66 against the Akita Northern Happy Nets of the B.League 2023-2024 season at CNA Arena in Akita, Japan, on Nov. 8.
Ryo Abe (24 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists) led both teams in scoring, while Naton Booth (16 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists) and Vladimir Gerun (9 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists) also made their presence felt. With the win, Sendai improved to 6-6 and remained in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Yang Jae-min was a force on both ends of the floor with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in 18:50 of action. Five of his nine shots from the field found the rim, including two of his four attempts from three-point range. Three of his seven rebounds were valuable offensive rebounds. He also made a solid contribution on defense with three steals.
After grabbing two rebounds in the first quarter, Yang assisted on Booth’s three-pointer in the second quarter. He then hit a three-pointer to record his first points of the game. He also played aggressively, grabbing an offensive rebound and recording a steal. Yang’s steal led to Abe’s basket.
In the second half, he continued to drive the court and hit a mid-range shot. At the end of the third quarter, he added a fastbreak layup. In the fourth quarter, he helped set up Masaharu Kataoka’s outside shot with an accurate pass and followed it up with a three-pointer. Meanwhile, Lee Dae-sung (Mikawa) had seven points, five rebounds, and three assists in 28 minutes and 20 seconds against SunRocers Shibuya. He was a presence on defense and rebounding, but his shooting wasn’t great, as he missed all three of his three-point attempts. With the 62-86 loss, Seahorses Mikawa moves to 6-6 on the season.
Elsewhere, Jang Kook-Kook (Nagasaki) did not see the court against the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins. The Nagasaki Belka lost 97-101 despite a strong effort from Japan international forward Baba Yudai (28 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists). The loss drops them to 8-4 on the season.
